My Grandma always said you have to have something to look forward to & the NY Jets gave me that gift when I needed it most. Every weekend a game was an outlet that didn't make me cry, but made me cheer & smile & focus on the game & the stats with the twins. That is what helped me, one yard at a time.
My sweet husband, Matthew, passed away at the age of 44. He had his dream job working for the NY Jets since before we were engaged. We planned our wedding around the season, we found out we were having b/g twins in the football side parking lot. We have had so much fun going to tames at the stadium & watching away games at home. We always wore our gameday gear & loved to watch the games with friends & family. For me football is most definitely about the game, but also it's the experience that brings people together, the laughts, high fives & the love. I truly realized that when the Jets continued to gift the twins & I Matthew's tickets after he passed. We brought friends & family to a few games, some of who had never ben to a Jets game before. To see the experience through their eyes & them understanding why we love football & the NY Jets so much was beautiful for all of us & such a bright spot during what I would describe as me trying to survive drowning in a traumatic tornado.
I am forever thankful to the entire NY Jets organization for being there for Matthew & making his dreams come true, for all the love & hugs of support, for the tickets & the incredible kindness you gave over & over & for being there for me when I needed it the most. If I could do anything to honor my sweet hubby it would be to pay the NY Jets kindness forward & share what helped me.
Widows and their children need to know they have a team, a sideline, a front row all around them, they're not alone & it's going to be ok, one yard at a time.
Love,
